A truly exceptional experience — every time - 5+ stars My son and I have been coming to Roots Steakhouse in Ridgewood for a few years, and it has consistently been one of our favorite places to share a great meal together. Now that he is away at boarding school, our visits are less frequent, but whenever he is home we always look forward to coming back. This weekend, while he was home for Thanksgiving, we had one of the best experiences we’ve ever had at Roots. The food was outstanding. My son is a very selective eater, and he tried the Beef Wellington for the first time and he absolutely loved it. It was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and truly memorable. He also devoured the Burrata appetizer with pesto, which added the perfect touch, and the truffle french fries were the real deal, actual truffle flavor, not the imitation “truffle” so many places use. Everything was superb and delicious. What made the evening even more special was the exceptional service from Ron, a manager we’ve gotten to know over the years. Ron works incredibly hard, constantly moving through the room to make sure every table is happy, and he treats guests with genuine warmth. He remembered so much about me and my son, sat and talked with us, and made the whole experience feel personal. He even surprised us with my sons favorite dessert on the house, which was such a generous gesture and made the night feel even more special (the carrot cake if you are wondering is out of this world). We always feel welcomed, relaxed, and well taken care of at Roots. The food is consistently five-star, the ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service, especially from Ron, is what keeps us coming back. I cannot recommend Roots Ridgewood highly enough.
Had a wonderful time here. Service: Top notch. We had two kids and staff were so friendly and accommodating. Food: Everything was good. Our steak was delicious. They surprised our birthday person with a giant Sunday and that was amazing. Atmosphere: Give a bit of Wall Street restaurant vibes. Some cool art.
I had the pleasure of dining at Roots this past week. The appetizers, entrees and cocktails were excellent. As one of my favorite dishes, I ordered the Beef Wellington. The entree was perfectly prepared to medium temperature without soiling the arid crispy texture of the surrounding dough. The chef achieved this without the use of too much salt which is always a bit tricky. Well done team. A small note on management. It is upon rare occasion where I encounter a manager of any establishment that maintains such a singular performance as Larry. His attention to detail, and commitment to the success of the establishment should be commended. I do so hope the owners of Roots are aware of what a gem they have in their possession.
Delicious food , so juice steak and fresh steamed broccolis . My arugula salad was perfection , with blue cheese apples and caramelized walnuts. The flavors Malbec wine and a melting in your mouth desert was just a perfect lunch with an outstanding service. Our server Mike was trying to help everyone with a constant smile. Thank you guys for your hard work.
I made a reservation for Sunday lunch. Upon arrival, we were promptly taken to our table. The restaurant had such beautiful interior, integrated with luxurious railway car vibes, and huge bar area in front. All the furnishings, wall arts and decors were so nicely put together. The menu had lots of good appetizers, a raw bar section, salads, steaks, seafood and few entrees. Some of their entrees had unique options of multiple small items together, like Ultimate Roots Trio and the Roots Express lunch. I went with the first one, that came with a slider, small lobster roll and lobster bisque. The slider wasn’t too good, had plain bread, patty and some crispy onion. I’d have liked to some sort of sauce in it. But the roll and soup were really good. I also got the lobster bites for appetizers. These were to die for. Soooo creamy and buttery. They put these in a dish with holes. It was such a fantastic dish. The Mac & cheese was also a good dish. We also got a complimentary bread with butter. It was huge and top quality. The service was top notch. Our server was a pro, interacted with us on many different things other than just taking and serving orders. The manager also stopped by our table multiple times, had some wonderful conversations with him. Overall we have a wonderful family lunch here. I am surprised it took me such a long time to discover this amazing steak house. Will be back for sure.
Beautiful spot, right in the heart of ridgewood. We went just on an offbeat night. Very nice spot great location parking is a little bit of a pain so be sure to park in the lot behind the restaurant. It’s on a nice little strip there’s other things to do, but you won’t want to go anywhere else this place has it all. Be sure to ask for Jenna she was our server and she was amazing. She knew the menu front to back and was very honest with what we inquired about. The staff was super sweet, personable and professional. We had a great time the drinks were also good try an espresso martini really made perfectly there’s a wide menu selection from drinks to food to salads and apps to deserts truly something for everyone you can find it here.
Nice steakhouse at downtown ridgewood. Grand design in the dining hall. It definitely gives a vibe for “formal dining”. Service is wonderful. Our server was tentative and friendly. Great interaction with us and our kid. We met the manager as well. Very nice guy. Professional. Food is great. I like the onion soup. They absolutely put work into the soup. Sweetness from the onion and savory from cheese complimented each other well. Crab cake sandwich and lobster are both good. Overall a great spot for date or family gatherings.
